My home is Westray, one of Orkney’s north isles. From my study I see the Atlantic and the North Sea. Straight ahead is Papa Westray’s west shore. At night the North Ronaldsay lighthouse flashes white through my windows. Between me and the shore is a broch site. Across the road is Westray’s only standing stone. I held a Scottish Book Trust New Writers’ Award for Poetry in 2017. My first pamphlet ‘ Glad Not to be the Corpse’ was published by Smiths Knoll in 2012. My poems have appeared in many magazines. This year ‘The Words of the Preacher to the People of the Five House at Sandquoy’ was commended in the McClellan Poetry competition. ‘Between the Gaps’ a collection was highly commended in the Paper Swans Pamphlet competition.
