First Place in the Paper Swans Pamphlet Competition in October 2020

My pamphlet ‘A Small Space’ was placed first in the Paper Swans Pamphlet competition in October 2020 judged by Carrie Etter. She said of it:‘Beginning with a label on an exhibit in a local museum, in A Small Space Lydia Harris develops a series of poignant, precise poems exploring the late 18th century remains of an infant burial in Orkney. The restless inventiveness of these poems impressed me again and again.’

‘A Small Space’ is about the Huntscarth clothing as displayed in Tankerness House. The clothing consists of a small plaid garment and a Scots bonnet. All that remains of a child bog burial near the Lyde Road, from the 18th c, and excavated in the 20th c.

The pamphlet is to be published soon!
